Spotlight: Victor Amescua & David Munoz. Maintenance Technicians at CWS

VICTOR 2

Bio: Victor Amescua is a Maintenance Technician III at Site SBD6 with C&W Services. With a passion for innovation and problem-solving, Victor played a key role in the seamless launch of a new facility. He aims to gain further experience and knowledge in his current role and aspires to train others in the future.

How long have you been with the company, and what is the most important thing you have learned? I have been with the company for three years. The most important lesson I've learned at C&W Services is that anything is possible. I began as an Amazon associate before joining as a Mechatronics Robotics Apprentice. After completing my training in North Carolina and the hands-on portion at my home site, I was recently promoted to Maintenance Technician III to support the launch of this facility.

What is your favorite part about working for C&W Services? My favorite aspect of working for C&W Services is handling Amazon’s latest material-handling technology. The experience and knowledge I have gained here are invaluable and can be applied to other roles within the company. I believe these skills can open new opportunities for me, especially if I am open to transferring to other countries, where the possibilities are even greater!

What are your career aspirations from here? I aim to master my role as a Maintenance Technician III over the next year. Following that, I would ideally like to transition into a training position to help develop and mentor others in the field. The mentorship at this company is truly exceptional, and I am eager to pay it forward.

Bio: David Munoz is a Maintenance Technician II at Site SBD6 with C&W Services. Despite having only two months in his role, David has already demonstrated his value to the team with his widespread expertise and proactive approach.

How did you start out as an apprentice? I have a diverse background across various industries. I earned an associate degree in HVAC from San Marino Valley College. Although securing an entry-level position was challenging, I leveraged my knowledge to land a role with C&W Services. The comprehensive on-the-job training I receive here is incredibly exciting and motivates me to continuously pursue further learning.

What’s your favorite part about working here? I greatly appreciate how much C&W Services invests in my development. It's not just about the training; they go the extra mile to provide specialized knowledge. This commitment means a lot to me because no other company has shown such dedication to my growth and development in my previous experiences.

When you applied for this role, you took a criteria test. Can you tell me more about that? With my background, I was already familiar with some of the components involved when taking the Criteria exam. The exam took me no more than 30 minutes and it was straight-forward. A basic understanding of certain physics principles was required. The entire experience, from the start, was very smooth. The interview process was particularly engaging, with the hiring manager asking questions that set clear job expectations and helped me understand how to succeed in this role.

Although you've only been here for two months, you've been picking up technical skills, like advanced manufacturing. Have you also had a chance to work on soft skills, such as presenting, talking to leaders, or doing projects in Excel and PowerPoint? While I haven't had much experience with formal presentations at work, I developed a strong foundation in public speaking during college. This background has equipped me with the skills and confidence to communicate effectively, making it easier to adapt to presentation tasks in a professional setting. I recommend everyone to take a public speaking course online or at your local community college.
