Having a network allows you to reach a broader audience and will only help you find more opportunities. Hiring managers and companies will always prefer to hire someone that is recommended by a trusted employee. Networking can also help you gain access to jobs that may not be publicly posted. Building relationships with previous employers, contractors, and business owners, can increase your chances of being hired or getting future project opportunities. Networking also allows you to learn from others within your industry who may have more experience than yourself. Having a network also means you are building your own reputation. In the trades industry, your reputation can be one of your biggest assets. Positive word of mouth from other people within your network can open doors for other opportunities and projects. Networking also allows you to stay updated on any regulatory or industry changes that might impact your work.
