Regional Environmental Health & Safety Specialist
Job Description Summary
The Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Specialist oversees safety programs and regulatory compliance across approximately 30 to 40 commercial facility sites throughout New England. This field-based role supports janitorial, office services, landscaping, facilities maintenance, and building engineering operations. Regular daytime travel between sites is required, but no overnight travel is expected.

Schedule & Location
Candidates must live within a practical commuting distance of Cambridge and Greater Boston. Overnight travel is not required.
Typical hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. or 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with flexibility based on client and business needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and monitor EH&S programs across assigned sites.
- Conduct site inspections, safety audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
- Identify hazards and partner with site leaders to complete corrective actions.
- Provide guidance on OSHA General Industry standards and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
- Maintain required permits, logs, training records, OSHA documentation, and audit records.
- Develop and update safe work procedures, emergency plans, and safety training.
- Support Workers’ Compensation investigations, documentation, and claim tracking.
- Advise teams on commercial building safety and environmental concerns, including indoor air quality, mold, asbestos, water intrusion, and fuel storage.
- Promote a strong safety culture across multiple service lines and client locations.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of relevant health and safety experience.
- Multi-site EH&S experience, preferably supporting 30 or more locations.
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA General Industry standards.
- Experience conducting audits, inspections, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
- Ability to independently manage priorities across a geographically dispersed portfolio.
- Experience supporting commercial facilities, building engineering, maintenance, janitorial, landscaping, or office services.
- Strong communication, organization, technical writing, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to travel regularly between assigned sites during the workday.
- Ability to access commercial rooftops, climb tall ladders, and inspect mechanical and operational areas.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and health, environmental health and safety, engineering, or a related field.
- CSP, CIH, ASP, or comparable safety certification.
- Formal training in auditing, risk assessment, or incident investigation.
- Experience supporting integrated facilities management operations.
- Bilingual communication skills strongly preferred

The compensation that will be offered to the successful candidate will depend on factors such as whether the position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement, the geographic area in which the work will be performed, market pay rates in that area, and the candidate’s experience and qualifications.
The company will not pay less than minimum wage for this role.
The compensation for the position is: $ 76,500.00 - $90,000.00
