Job Description Summary
The Power Washer and Floor Care Equipment Operator performs specialized pressure-washing and floor-care services throughout LAX. The position is responsible for power-washing passenger boarding bridges (jetways), recovering wastewater, scrubbing baggage rooms, and completing floor-care assignments in gate areas and other assigned locations. This position requires the safe operation of commercial power washers, ride-on floor sweepers and scrubbers, swing machines, carpet extractors, encapsulation machines, escalator-cleaning machines, boom lifts, and company vehicles.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Pressure-wash passenger boarding bridges, commonly known as jetways, and other assigned airport areas.
Operate ride-on floor sweepers and scrubbers to collect and recover water produced during pressure-washing.
Prevent wastewater, cleaning chemicals, and debris from entering drains, restricted areas, or airport operational areas.
Sweep and mechanically scrub all assigned baggage rooms.
Perform floor-care services in gate areas, hold rooms, passenger boarding bridges, baggage rooms, corridors, and other locations as requested.
Operate floor-care equipment, including:
Ride-on and walk-behind floor scrubbers
Ride-on floor sweepers
Swing machines
Carpet extractors
Carpet encapsulation machines
Escalator-cleaning machines
Commercial vacuums and other specialized equipment
Perform floor scrubbing, stripping, refinishing, polishing, buffing, carpet extraction, carpet encapsulation, spot cleaning, and other assigned floor-care duties.
Operate a boom lift to clean elevated surfaces and hard-to-reach areas.
Drive company vehicles to transport equipment and supplies throughout airport property.
Inspect all equipment, vehicles, hoses, electrical cords, batteries, brushes, pads, and recovery systems before each use.
Fill and empty solution and recovery tanks as required.
Clean tanks, squeegees, brushes, pads, filters, hoses, and other equipment components after use.
Charge batteries and properly store equipment at the end of each shift.
Set up safety cones, barricades, caution signs, and other protective equipment before beginning work.
Coordinate with supervisors, airport personnel, and airline representatives before cleaning jetways, gates, baggage rooms, escalators, or restricted areas.
Work safely around aircraft, baggage equipment, escalators, vehicles, employees, passengers, and other airport operations.
Immediately report equipment damage, unsafe conditions, spills, injuries, or property damage.
Complete required equipment inspections, work logs, and assignment documentation.
Perform additional custodial, floor-care, and specialized cleaning duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Must maintain a clean and acceptable driving record in accordance with company and insurance requirements.
Must have previous experience operating commercial floor-care equipment, including scrubbers, swing machines, carpet extractors, encapsulation machines, and escalator-cleaning machines.
Must have experience operating commercial pressure-washing equipment or successfully complete company-required training.
Must have experience operating ride-on floor sweepers and scrubbers or successfully complete company-required training.
Boom-lift certification is required. The company can provide the required training and certification.
Must complete all required fall-protection and equipment-safety training before operating a boom lift independently.
Must be able to qualify for and maintain all required LAX security clearances and airport identification badges.
Must understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
Must be dependable and able to work independently or as part of a team.
Must be available to work nights, weekends, holidays, and changing schedules based on airport operational needs.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Ability to safely control high-pressure hoses and operate heavy commercial equipment.
Ability to enter, exit, and safely operate ride-on cleaning equipment.
Ability to work at elevated heights while wearing required fall-protection equipment.
Ability to work outdoors and in areas exposed to water, noise, cleaning chemicals, vehicle traffic, moving equipment, and changing weather conditions.
Safety Requirements
The employee must wear all required personal protective equipment, including safety footwear, gloves, eye protection, hearing protection, reflective safety clothing, and fall-protection equipment when applicable.
The employee must follow all company safety policies, airport regulations, environmental requirements, OSHA standards, and equipment-manufacturer instructions. Employees may not operate equipment until they have completed the required training and received authorization.

The company will not pay less than minimum wage for this role.
The compensation for the position is: $19.44 - $22.87
