Building Maintenance Technician
Full Time | Integrated Facilities Management
About the Opportunity
As a Building Maintenance Technician, you’ll carry out a mix of planned maintenance, reactive repairs, minor works and building fabric upkeep across the healthcare facility. You’ll work closely with other trades, FM teams and hospital staff to ensure the building remains safe, functional and compliant at all times.
This role offers exposure to a wide range of building systems and tasks — perfect for someone who enjoys hands‑on work and thrives in a dynamic environment.
What You’ll Be Doing
Delivering general building maintenance including carpentry, patching, painting and minor repairs
Maintaining doors, hardware, ceilings, partitions and building finishes
Assisting with minor trade works within your competency
Coordinating with specialist contractors for complex or licensed works
Responding to urgent maintenance issues impacting hospital operations
Completing building fabric inspections and asset lifecycle replacement tasks
Supporting planned maintenance programs and compliance activities
Liaising with hospital staff to minimise disruption during works
Ensuring all work complies with infection control and WHS requirements
What You’ll Bring
Experience in building maintenance, handyperson or multi‑trade roles
Skills across basic carpentry, plastering, painting, tiling, minor repairs and general building upkeep
Experience in complex facilities — hospital or clinical environments highly regarded
Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to work autonomously
Ability to work safely in a highly regulated environment
Strong communication and customer service skills
Valid driver’s licence, White Card and ability to obtain relevant clearances
Desirable skills/licences:
EWP / High Risk Boom
Basic plumbing or electrical knowledge
Experience with minor fit‑outs, de‑fits or small works
Ability to work in confined spaces, at heights and in plant rooms
