Job Description Summary

The Research Associate - Data Centers, Alternatives & Practice Groups, serves as a key operational and business development resource for the Data Center Insights team, responsible for maintaining the data, reporting materials, and research infrastructure that support the group's activities around market insights and client-facing pursuits. The role focuses on data collection and verification, database maintenance, market tracking, presentation updates, recurring report production, and fulfillment of routine information requests from brokers and internal stakeholders. By ensuring the accuracy and readiness of the team's data and materials, the position enables efficient delivery of research, reporting, and market intelligence across the organization in support of existing clients and business development.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

Data Collection, Validation & Database Management-

  • Collect, verify, and maintain data related to data center properties, developments, land transactions, power infrastructure, leasing activity, and market inventory.
  • Gather information from proprietary databases, public records, industry publications, internal resources, and other approved data sources.
  • Validate and cross-reference data to ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness.
  • Maintain and update proprietary databases, datasets, and market intelligence resources used by the Data Center Insights team.
  • Identify and escalate potential data discrepancies, gaps, or quality issues for review.

Reporting & Publication Support-

  • Support the production of recurring market reports, presentations, and research publications through data updates, quality-control reviews, and content maintenance.
  • Prepare data tables, exhibits, charts, and supporting materials for research and client deliverables.
  • Maintain recurring reporting templates and ensure information is updated in accordance with established reporting schedules.
  • Assist in auditing reports and external client presentations to ensure data accuracy and adherence to company standards.

Presentation & Market Material Maintenance-

  • Update and maintain internal and external presentation materials with the latest market data, charts, maps, and supporting visuals.
  • Maintain standardized market overview materials, chart libraries, and presentation templates.
  • Ensure consistency in formatting, branding, and data presentation across team deliverables.
  • Support conference presentations, speaking engagements, internal meetings, client pitches, client quarterly business reviews and other special projects by preparing and updating presentation content.

Internal Research & Business Development Support-

  • Support existing clients and new pursuits by fulfilling routine requests from brokers and internal stakeholders for market information, data exports, presentation updates, and research support.
  • Compile and organize market information from internal and external sources to support business development, research, and practice group initiatives.
  • Support ad hoc research requests by gathering, organizing, and validating information as needed.
  • Coordinate with research, brokerage, marketing, and business leadership teams to ensure timely delivery of requested information and materials.

Process Improvement & Operational Support-

  • Develop and maintain efficient processes for data collection, reporting updates, and information management.
  • Assist with documentation of methodologies, workflows, and quality-control procedures.
  • Identify opportunities to improve the accuracy, consistency, and efficiency of recurring research and reporting activities.
  • Support the ongoing maintenance of the team's research infrastructure, databases, and information resources.

Qualifications:

  • 0-2 years of experience in research, data management, business intelligence, commercial real estate research, market intelligence, or a related field. Internship experience applicable.
  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as data analytics, data science, statistics, mathematics, economics, information systems, computer science, engineering, quantitative finance, commercial real estate or a related discipline.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data organization, formulas, pivot tables, data validation, and quality-control review.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, including updating and maintaining charts, tables, maps, and presentation materials.
  • Ability to work with large datasets while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple recurring deliverables and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Ability to gather, validate, organize, and maintain information from multiple internal and external sources.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated curiosity, initiative, and willingness to learn new tools, data sources, and industry concepts.
  • Ability to work independently and consistently produce accurate, high-quality work with minimal supervision.

Preferred Experience & Skills:

  • Internship, academic, or professional experience involving data collection, data management, research, reporting, or business intelligence.
  • Experience maintaining large datasets, spreadsheets, databases, or market intelligence platforms.
  • Experience creating reports, presentations, dashboards, or data visualizations.
  • Experience leveraging AI and building skills to automate tasks, aggregate information/data, and identify outliers.
  • Experience with Power BI, Tableau, SQL, Python, or similar analytical tools.
  • Commercial real estate research experience preferred.
  • Experience covering data centers, digital infrastructure, telecommunications, energy, or other specialized real estate sectors is highly desirable.
  • Experience sourcing, validating, reconciling, and maintaining information from multiple data sources.

The compensation that will be offered to the successful candidate will depend on factors such as whether the position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement, the geographic area in which the work will be performed, market pay rates in that area, and the candidate’s experience and qualifications.

The company will not pay less than minimum wage for this role.

The compensation for the position is: $ 57,783.96 - $66,500.00
