University of Auckland Contract | Auckland CBD Full-Time Permanent Position

We are seeking a qualified Certified Plumber/Gasfitter to join our facilities management team delivering planned and reactive maintenance services across the University of Auckland portfolio. About the Role

As the site's Certified Plumber/Gasfitter, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality plumbing maintenance services across a large campus portfolio. You'll work across a range of planned, preventative, reactive, and small project tasks while ensuring compliance, safety, and excellent customer service.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering reactive, preventative and planned maintenance activities

  • Completing small project plumbing works across campus facilities

  • Diagnosing and resolving plumbing faults and system issues

  • Servicing and maintaining commercial and domestic hot water systems

  • Certifying and signing off completed plumbing works

  • Maintaining accurate job notes, reports and work close-outs

  • Sourcing materials and obtaining supplier quotations

  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant standards, regulations and HSSEQ requirements

  • Building positive relationships with clients, contractors and stakeholders

  • Participating in an on-call roster

About You

You are a highly skilled tradesperson who enjoys taking ownership of your workload and delivering quality outcomes. You have strong fault-finding abilities, excellent communication skills, and pride yourself on providing outstanding customer service.

Essential Requirements

  • Current New Zealand Plumber Registration

  • Current PGDB Practising Licence

  • Full New Zealand Driver Licence

  • Minimum five years' experience in commercial plumbing maintenance

  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving capability

  • Experience working with commercial and domestic hot water systems

  • Sound understanding of Health & Safety requirements and compliance standards

  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities

  • Strong digital and documentation skills

Desirable

  • Gasfitting certification or experience

  • Drainlaying registration

  • Backflow prevention certification

  • First Aid, Confined Space or Working at Heights qualifications

  • Facilities Management industry experience

  • Experience working in tertiary education, healthcare, government or large commercial facilities
