Critical Facilities Technician
Job Description Summary
We are looking for a hands-on Critical Facilities Technician to support the safe and reliable 24/7 operation of a mission-critical data center facility. This role is responsible for monitoring, operating, and maintaining mechanical and electrical infrastructure during shift, responding to alarms and abnormal conditions, and supporting preventive and corrective maintenance in line with client procedures, SLAs, and safety requirements.

About the Role:
- Deliver assigned Maintenance Services to client SLA and KPI requirements, supporting continuous facility uptime and safe 24/7 operations.
- Monitor BMS, PMS, safety systems, and other monitoring platforms during shift, identifying deviations from normal operating parameters and escalating promptly in line with approved procedures.
- Conduct scheduled facility rounds, readings, and equipment status checks across mechanical, electrical, safety, and general facility systems.
- Raise work orders for abnormal findings and support accurate documentation of inspection results, recommended actions, and timescales in CMMS or other designated tools.
- Perform approved preventive, corrective, and non-certified technical maintenance tasks within assigned competence, qualification, and authorization levels.
- Support preventive maintenance activities carried out by third-party vendors by providing access, escorting where required, monitoring works, and recording completed activity tickets.
- Use CMMS to review assigned work orders, update maintenance records, capture readings and observations, and close completed tasks with sufficient detail.
- Respond to emergency incidents before external responders arrive, within training and authorization limits.
- Comply with all client and Cushman & Wakefield procedures, safety requirements, electrical safety rules, life safety requirements, environmental controls, and applicable regulations.
- Provide clear shift handover notes, incident updates, work order comments, and escalation communications to the Plant Supervisor, shift team, and client representatives.
About You:
- 2+ years of relevant experience in critical facility operations, building services maintenance, engineering, or another mission-critical environment.
- Experience as a shift technician, plant operator, or facilities technician in a Tier III or equivalent data center or mission-critical facility is preferred.
- Hands-on knowledge of facility mechanical and electrical infrastructure systems and mission-critical maintenance practices.
- Familiarity with BMS, PMS, safety systems, and the ability to interpret alarms, readings, operating status, and facility trends.
- Strong practical fault-finding, problem-solving, and decision-making skills within approved procedures and escalation paths.
- Good communication, shift handover, and work order documentation skills.
- Working knowledge of CMMS platforms for reviewing tasks, updating maintenance records, and closing work orders accurately.
- Strong safety mindset, including adherence to electrical safety, life safety, emergency response, and environmental requirements.
- Relevant trade, technical, or vocational qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, Building Services, or a related discipline.
- Valid Certificate of Qualification or license where required by applicable regulations.
- First aid, CPR/AED, electrical safety, and hazardous materials response training would be an advantage where applicable.
