Job Description Summary
Responsible for conducting preventive & corrective maintenance, tests & repair of fire alarm & protection systems & other fire associated systems. Objective is to ensure systems are effectively maintained so that they are operating efficiently & reliably.
Job Description
- Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance of fire alarm, fire protection, and life safety systems within the premises and associated facilities, ensuring timely execution in accordance with maintenance schedules and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct routine inspection, functional testing, and commissioning verification of fire alarm and fire protection systems in compliance with Singapore Fire Code, SS 645, SS CP 10, and venue operating standards.
- Take full ownership of scheduled maintenance activities, ensuring complete, accurate, and high-quality execution of fire alarm and associated systems maintenance with proper documentation and reporting.
- Troubleshoot system faults, analyze root causes of breakdowns, and implement effective rectification measures to minimize downtime and improve system reliability.
- Support major sporting events, concerts, exhibitions, and national events by ensuring all fire and life safety systems remain fully operational and event-ready.
- Coordinate and liaise with facility management, operations teams, event organizers, contractors, and relevant stakeholders to resolve system issues, plan maintenance activities, and respond to operational requirements.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of integrated building systems, including Fire Alarm Systems (FAS), HVAC controls, Smoke Control Systems, Emergency and Safety Control Systems (ESCS), sprinkler systems, fire suppression systems, elevator recall controls, security access control systems, and emergency communication systems.
- Respond promptly to emergency calls, system alarms, and critical faults, providing technical expertise and support during emergency situations and operational incidents.
- Proactively identify system deficiencies, operational risks, and performance gaps; recommend and implement improvement initiatives to enhance reliability, safety, and compliance.
- Supervise and coordinate subcontractors during maintenance, testing, repairs, and system upgrades, ensuring adherence to safety procedures and quality standards.
- Prepare maintenance reports, service records, test certificates, and fault investigation reports for management review and regulatory compliance.
- Support annual statutory inspections, fire drills, integrated system testing, audits, and authority inspections as required.
- Ensure compliance with Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) requirements, company policies, and venue-specific safety procedures while working in a live event environment.
Key Competencies:
- Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding skills for fire alarm and life safety systems.
- Experience with large-scale public assembly venues, stadiums, commercial complexes, or integrated developments.
- Good understanding of fire protection system integration and critical life safety operations.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and support after-hours emergency response when required.
- Effective communication and coordination skills with stakeholders, contractors, and operations teams.
Qualifications & Experience
- NITEC, Higher NITEC, Diploma, or equivalent qualification in Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical, Fire Protection Engineering, or related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in maintenance, troubleshooting, and testing of Fire Alarm Systems (FAS) and Fire Protection Systems.
- Experience in large commercial buildings, sports venues, integrated developments or airports will be an advantage.
- Familiarity with Singapore Fire Code, SS 645, and relevant fire protection standards and regulations.
Familiarity with fire alarm platforms such as Notifier, Siemens, EST, Honeywell, Simplex, or equivalent systems.
