Job Summary
The MEP Engineer will be responsible for planning, coordination, supervision, quality control, and execution management of all Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing (MEP), Fire & Refrigeration systems for warehouse, dark store, fulfillment center, and cold chain infrastructure projects.
The role requires close coordination with clients, consultants, contractors, and statutory authorities to ensure timely delivery of projects in compliance with design specifications, safety standards, and project schedules. The candidate should possess strong experience in warehouse construction projects, preferably for quick commerce, e-commerce, and logistics clients such as Zomato and Blinkit.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Execution
• Review MEP drawings, specifications, BOQs, and design documents.
• Coordinate with architects, structural consultants, refrigeration vendors, and contractors for seamless project execution.
• Monitor project progress, resource deployment, and contractor performance.
• Ensure adherence to project timelines, quality standards, and budget requirements.
• Conduct regular site inspections and progress reviews. Cold Chain & Refrigeration Systems
• Supervise installation and commissioning of Multi-temperature cold storage facilities. Chillers, deep freezer rooms, and ambient storage zones. Refrigeration systems maintaining temperatures between 2°C and 8°C or lower as required. Freon-based and ammonia-based refrigeration systems. Cold room evaporators, condensers, and control systems.
• Ensure thermal integrity and energy-efficient operation of cold storage infrastructure. Insulation & Thermal Envelope
• Monitor installation of PUF/PIR insulated sandwich panels. Cold room doors and thermal barriers. Vapor barriers and insulation systems.
• Verify compliance with thermal performance and cold chain requirements. Warehouse Dock Infrastructure
• Supervise installation and testing of Dock levelers. Motorized roll-up doors. Dock shelters and dock seals. Loading bay equipment.
• Ensure operational efficiency and cold chain continuity during loading and unloading operations. Electrical Systems
• Review and supervise: HT and LT electrical installations. Transformer and substation works. DG sets and backup power systems. UPS systems for critical operations. Power distribution networks. Industrial cabling and cable tray systems. Energy-efficient lighting systems.
• Monitor electrical safety compliance and commissioning activities. HVAC Systems
• Oversee installation and commissioning of VRF/VRV systems. Ventilation and exhaust systems. Air conditioning systems for office and operational areas. Temperature-controlled warehouse environments. Fire & Life Safety
• Supervise installation of Fire alarm systems. Sprinkler networks. Hydrant systems. Fire pumps and jockey pumps.
• Ensure compliance with NBC, local fire regulations, and client standards.
• Coordinate statutory inspections and approvals. Plumbing & Drainage.
• Monitor installation Industrial plumbing systems. Trench drains and floor drainage networks. Water supply systems. Sewage and wastewater systems. STP/ETP installations where applicable. Quality, Safety & Compliance
• Conduct quality inspections and ensure compliance with approved drawings and specifications.
• Ensure contractor adherence to EHS requirements and permit systems.
• Participate in snagging, testing, commissioning, and project handover activities. Stakeholder Management
• Interface with clients, consultants, contractors, and authorities.
• Prepare project reports, progress dashboards, risk registers, and MOMs.
• Support commercial evaluations, variation management, and contractor billing certification.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering / electrical engineering.
• Additional certifications in MEP, HVAC, Refrigeration, Fire Safety, or Project Management preferred. Experience.
• 5–10 years of experience in MEP project execution and management.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in warehouse, industrial, logistics, fulfillment center, cold storage, or quick-commerce infrastructure projects.
• Experience working with PMC organizations is highly preferred. Technical Skills
