Job Description Summary

We are seeking a qualified and experienced EHS Manager with around 8-10 years of experience in construction projects to oversee and implement Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) systems at site. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with statutory safety regulations, company HSE policies, and project safety requirements while promoting a strong safety culture across the project.

Job Description

1. Health & Safety Management

  • Implement project-specific HSE plans, procedures, and safety management systems.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable statutory regulations, client requirements, and company HSE standards.
  • Conduct regular site safety inspections and audits to identify unsafe conditions and practices.

2. Site Safety Supervision

  • Monitor day-to-day construction activities to ensure safe execution of works.
  • Supervise high-risk activities including:
    • Work at height
    • Lifting operations
    • Hot works
    • Confined space entry
    • Excavation activities
    • Electrical works
  • Ensure availability and proper use of PPE by all site personnel.

3. Risk Assessment & Permit System

  • Conduct Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA/JSA) for construction activities.
  • Implement and monitor Permit to Work (PTW) systems.
  • Recommend preventive and corrective actions for identified risks.

4. Safety Training & Awareness

  • Conduct safety induction programs for new workers and staff.
  • Organize toolbox talks, safety campaigns, mock drills, and awareness sessions.
  • Promote safety culture and behavioral safety practices across the site.

5. Incident Investigation & Reporting

  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses.
  • Prepare incident investigation reports with root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Maintain records of incidents, inspections, audits, and safety statistics.

6. Compliance & Documentation

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, local labor laws, client HSE requirements, and project safety standards.
  • Maintain all HSE documentation including:
    • Safety inspection reports
    • PTW records
    • Training records
    • Equipment inspection logs
    • Emergency response plans
  • Coordinate statutory inspections and audits.

7. Emergency Preparedness

  • Develop and implement emergency response procedures.
  • Conduct mock drills for fire, evacuation, medical emergencies, and rescue operations.
  • Ensure emergency equipment and first aid facilities are adequately maintained.

8. Coordination & Communication

  • Coordinate with project managers, subcontractors, consultants, and client representatives on safety matters.
  • Participate in progress and safety review meetings.
  • Support implementation of company sustainability and environmental initiatives where applicable.

Educational Qualification

  • Degree/Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical/Civil/Electrical or related discipline).
  • Diploma/Advanced Diploma in Industrial Safety recognized by relevant authorities.

Experience

  • Minimum 8 years of relevant HSE experience in large construction or infrastructure projects.

Technical Knowledge

  • Thorough understanding of construction safety practices and regulations.
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards, IS Codes, NFPA, and local statutory safety requirements.
  • Experience in risk assessment, incident investigation, and PTW systems.

Software Skills

  • Proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Familiarity with safety reporting and inspection tools/software is preferred.

  • Ability to influence and drive safe behaviors at site.
  • Good observation and analytical skills.
  • Capability to handle emergency situations effectively.
