Job Title
Design & Engineering Lead
Job Description Summary
Design & Engineering Lead oversees the end-to-end technical integrity of local design and construction projects by ensuring strict alignment with global standards and acting as the primary liaison with regulatory authorities and utility providers. You will be responsible for mitigating project risks, from defining scope during the RFP process to serving as the final technical authority on field-level modifications and system redundancy.
Job Description
About the Role:
- Conduct rigorous technical reviews of all local design submissions (Schematic Design through to Issued for Construction) to ensure 100% alignment with the Basis of Design (BOD) and global availability targets.
- Lead the technical evaluation of the Request for Proposal (RFP) process for design partners, defining specific Scope of Work (SOW) requirements that mitigate local site risks.
- Navigate the local planning and building permit landscape by serving as the lead technical representative in meetings with utility providers and government authorities to secure power, water, and building approvals.
- Act as the final technical arbiter for Requests for Information (RFIs) and Change Orders during construction, ensuring that field-level modifications do not degrade system redundancy or operational safety.
- Develop and maintain a local Design Risk Register, providing the Regional Head of Design with bi-weekly updates on potential schedule impacts, local supply chain constraints, or regulatory changes.
About You:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering, providing the technical authority to lead complex infrastructure decisions.
- 10–12 years of proven experience in Design Management or Engineering specifically within the Data Center or Mission Critical infrastructure sector.
- A successful history of delivering major data center projects with a total capacity of 100MW or more, showcasing your ability to handle hyperscale complexity.
- Exceptional ability to orchestrate multi-disciplinary teams and hold Tier-1 consultancy firms accountable while operating under high-pressure deadlines.
