Position Purpose:

The Associate Central Utility Plant Operator is a semi-skilled position involved in supplying support by aiding Central Utility Plant Operators in the areas of Operations, Repairs, and PMs all the physical plant’s main and auxiliary equipment to include all HVAC equipment, air compressors, chillers, AHU’s, pumps, exhaust systems, life safety systems, etc in a mixed-use corporate environment. Aid team members on daily activities.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Monitor building systems through SCADA and respond to alarms.
  • Perform daily inspections of operational areas that may include hazards such as sound, extreme heat or cold, chemicals, high voltage electricity, and heavy equipment.
  • Assists with performing system scheduled maintenance and other work assigned on a daily basis.
  • Maintain thorough and accurate records of daily activities, equipment status, and operating parameters.
  • Review, maintain, comprehend, and follow Work Plans, Sequence of Operations, Standard Operating Procedures, P&ID's, and Process Flow Diagrams.
  • Keep operational areas in a high level of operational readiness, housekeeping, organization, orderliness and free of hazards.

Specific experience, knowledge, and skills (some experience is required):

  • Should have some familiarity with various systems including:
    • Electrical systems
    • Exhaust systems including Thermal Oxidizers
    • DI plant operation
    • Centrifugal air compressors
    • Centrifugal pumps and piping systems
    • Industrial Waste Treatment Plant Operation
    • Air systems including FFU’s, VAV's, AHU/MAU's, VLFs
  • Familiar with SCADA systems to monitor and control site infrastructure systems.
  • Must be able to respond quickly to potentially critical situations, perform rapid, accurate assessments, trouble shoot systems and components to identify causes of failures, determine appropriate corrective actions, and implement these corrections promptly to mitigate the effects of system changes.
  • Must be able to use basic PC applications, such as Outlook, Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Must be team oriented and highly collaborative, possess effective oral and written communication skills; work must be extremely reliable, with consistent and dependable attendance.
  • Able to interpret and work from written instructions and drawings with minimal supervision.

Additional information:

  • Compressed work week schedule, currently on days; must be able to work with peers to cover other shifts as needed.
  • This person will need behaviors such as Collaborator, Service-Oriented, Self-Starter, and Problem-Solver.

The compensation that will be offered to the successful candidate will depend on factors such as whether the position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement, the geographic area in which the work will be performed, market pay rates in that area, and the candidate’s experience and qualifications.

The company will not pay less than minimum wage for this role.

The compensation for the position is: $25.50 - $30.00
