At Cushman & Wakefield, National Apprenticeship Week (NAW) is more than a celebration. It reflects how we as National Apprenticeship Ambassadors invest in people, strengthen communities, and build resilient skilled talent pipelines for the built environment.

Our Skilled Trades Apprenticeship Program plays a critical role in preparing the next generation of technical professionals while helping clients meet increasingly complex facilities management and building operation’s needs. Through a strong national framework and deep local connections, our apprenticeships combine hands on experience with formal trade school education to deliver real world results.

Connecting Talent to Opportunity Through Trade School Partnerships

A cornerstone of our apprenticeship model is our commitment to trade school partnerships. All Cushman & Wakefield apprentices complete company paid Related Technical Instruction (RTI) through designated certification institutions, ensuring alignment with U.S. Department of Labor (USDOL) apprenticeship standards.

Today, we partner with more than 230 trade schools nationwide, and this network continues to expand alongside our growing apprenticeship programs. These partnerships help us:

  • Maintain a strong pipeline of qualified, job ready skilled trades talent
  • Provide access to high quality technical education and certification
  • Upskill our existing workforce and strengthen long term workforce planning and succession strategies

By meeting talent where they are and investing in where they want to go, we stay driven to solve workforce challenges with sustainable, future focused solutions.

Apprentice Occupations Powering the Built Environment

Our Skilled Trades Apprenticeship Program spans 14 apprenticeship concentrations, tailored to meet client, site, and market needs. Some of our most in demand skilled trades apprenticeships include:

  • Mechatronics Robotics (MRA Maintenance Technician Apprenticeship): Mechanical systems, controls, electrical components, and computer instrumentation
  • Electrical and Electrical Instrumentation Apprenticeships: Residential and industrial electrical systems and testing equipment
  • Building Engineer Apprenticeship: Plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems
  • HVAC Apprentice: Advanced HVAC systems and associated equipment, with location specific licensing and certifications
  • Maintenance Mechanic Apprenticeship: Machining, welding repair, equipment alignment, and diagnostics
  • Welding Apprenticeship: Fabrication and repair, blueprint reading, basic metallurgy, and safety standards

These careers reflect the resilience required in today’s built environment, where adaptability, technical expertise, and problem solving come together every day to keep facilities operating safely and efficiently.

Apprenticeships That Reflect Our Values

Our apprenticeship strategy reflects the values that guide Cushman & Wakefield:

  • Inclusive: Trade school partnerships expand access to skilled trades careers and welcome talent from diverse backgrounds and non-traditional career paths.
  • Visionary: Programs like Mechatronics and Robotics embrace advancing technology, automation, data, and analytics to prepare the workforce of the future.
  • Entrepreneurial: Tailored apprenticeship models help us remain agile and client focused as workforce and operational needs continue to evolve.

This National Apprenticeship Week, we celebrate the apprentices, instructors, mentors, and trade school partners who help deliver better outcomes for our clients, our communities, and each other.
