POSITION OVERVIEW
The Facilities Supervisor is accountable for the safe, reliable and consistent operation of the data centre during the assigned shift. The role supervises Shift Leads and Shift Engineers, maintains critical facilities readiness, and coordinates maintenance, incidents, emergency response, contractors, work control, customer communication, manpower deployment and operational reporting.
The ideal candidate will have strong mission-critical facilities experience, sound M&E knowledge and proven shift leadership capability. The role requires decisive operational judgement, disciplined procedure compliance and the ability to lead teams and stakeholders during normal, abnormal and emergency conditions.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
· Shift leadership and readiness: Direct Shift Leads and Shift Engineers, allocate manpower, verify routine inspections and monitoring activities, maintain operational coverage, and enforce attendance, safety, grooming and workplace discipline.
· Handover, records and action control: Review shift handovers, logs, inspection records, alarms, event records, defects and the Check & Confirm list; ensure outstanding issues have clear owners, target dates and escalation status.
· Critical systems and cooling: Ensure continuous BMS and physical monitoring of data halls, electrical rooms, UPS and generator areas, chiller plant and other critical spaces; investigate abnormal temperature, humidity, pressure, flow, vibration, noise, leakage or equipment trends.
· Maintenance and procedural compliance: Ensure PPM is completed to schedule and quality requirements; verify MOP, SOP, EOP, manufacturer guidance, PTW, risk assessments, isolations, impairments and return-to-normal controls before closing work.
· Alarm, incident and emergency management: Ensure alarms are acknowledged and physically verified, lead troubleshooting and stabilisation, maintain incident communications through approved channels, review incident reports, support RCA, and take operational leadership until formally relieved.
· Vendor, contractor and access control: Coordinate vendor work and escorts, monitor quality and housekeeping, enforce restricted-area access, and stop unauthorised, unsafe or procedure-deviating activities that could affect operations.
· Risk, defects and safety: Assess operational risks for maintenance, abnormal conditions and temporary configurations; track defects to permanent closure, stop unsafe work, enforce PPE and EHS controls, and escalate high-risk or overdue matters.
· Customer and stakeholder management: Ensure Service Desk, customer and vendor requests are acknowledged and progressed within the applicable SLA; maintain clear communication with Facilities Management, standby personnel and other stakeholders.
· Performance and capability: Monitor KPI and SLA performance, coach the shift team, coordinate toolbox briefings, technical training and EOP drills, identify competency gaps, and implement corrective actions for repeated performance issues.
· Continuous improvement: Review incidents, near misses, equipment trends and operating observations to improve procedures, inspections, maintenance practices, reporting and shift effectiveness.

KEY SKILLS AND CAPABILITIES
§ Strong knowledge of critical electrical and mechanical systems, BMS monitoring, chilled-water systems, cooling towers, pumps, chillers, UPS, generators and data hall environmental control.
§ Proven shift leadership, manpower deployment, coaching, contractor control and stakeholder communication capability.
§ Strong incident command, troubleshooting, escalation, emergency response and operational risk assessment skills.
§ Working knowledge of MOP, SOP, EOP, PPM, PTW, risk assessment, LOTO, access control and document-control requirements.
§ Ability to analyse alarms, trends, recurring defects, KPI/SLA performance and maintenance quality.
§ Clear written reporting, incident chronology, shift handover and customer communication skills.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
§ 5+ years of experience in data centre, critical facilities or mission-critical M&E operations, including supervisory responsibility.
§ Relevant diploma, degree, trade or technical qualification in Electrical, Mechanical, Building Services, Facilities Engineering or a related discipline.
§ Demonstrated experience leading operational shifts, incidents, emergency response, maintenance and vendor activities.
§ Relevant safety, electrical, mechanical, data centre or emergency response certifications are advantageous.
§ Able to provide operational leadership during incidents, maintenance and emergency conditions.
