Job Description Summary

This role is responsible for managing project costs, preparing accurate estimates, and ensuring financial efficiency across all stages of project execution. The Cost Engineer works closely with sales/ project teams to optimize budgets, control expenditures, and support successful project delivery.

Job Description

Cost Estimation & Budgeting

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates, budgets, and tender submissions for M&E and building services projects.
  • Analyze drawings, specifications, and scope requirements to ensure accurate cost projections.
  • Evaluate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors to ensure competitiveness and compliance.

Cost Control & Monitoring

  • Monitor project expenditures and track costs against approved budgets.
  • Identify cost variances and recommend corrective actions to maintain financial targets.
  • Manage cost reporting, including forecasts, cash flow, and cost-to-completion analysis.

Procurement & Contract Support

  • Support procurement activities by reviewing technical specifications and pricing.
  • Assist in contract administration, including variation orders, claims, and progress valuations.
  • Ensure all cost-related documentation is accurate and properly maintained.

Project Coordination

  • Collaborate with BD, engineers, project managers, and site teams to ensure cost-effective solutions.
  • Provide input on value engineering initiatives to optimize project costs without compromising quality.
  • Participate in project meetings to track financial and operational progress.

Market Analysis & Benchmarking

  • Conduct cost analysis and benchmarking to ensure competitive pricing.
  • Stay updated on market trends, material costs, and industry standards in M&E systems.
