Cushman & Wakefield are seeking a detail-oriented and results-driven Property Accountant to join our growing accounting team. This role is ideal for an accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys managing multiple priorities, and is committed to delivering exceptional service to clients. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial reports, supporting audits, and partnering with clients and property management teams to ensure sound financial practices.

Core Responsibilities

  • Perform full-cycle accounting activities, including analysis of accounts and accounting transactions.

  • Prepare and assist with cash management, accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), accruals, and account reconciliations.

  • Prioritize and effectively manage a high-volume workload across multiple client accounts while maintaining productivity and accuracy standards.

  • Prepare comprehensive financial reporting packages in a timely and accurate manner, ensuring compliance with internal controls and client requirements.

  • Research, analyze, and communicate complex accounting issues, escalating matters as appropriate.

  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with clients and property management teams to resolve issues and provide financial insights.

  • Apply established accounting procedures in the preparation of accounting records, transaction research, and financial reporting.

  • Ensure adherence to company financial policies and procedures, identifying and communicating inconsistencies, risks, and recommendations to management.

  • Prepare and review fixed asset ledgers to ensure proper capitalization and depreciation in accordance with owner requirements.

  • Calculate and record straight-line rent adjustments based on client preferences and accounting requirements.

  • Support internal and external audits by providing requested documentation and information.

  • Provide guidance, coaching, and support to Accountants as required by management.

  • Lead team meetings, assist with onboarding new assignments, and participate in or lead special projects.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Experience

  • One to three years of accounting experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Experience performing full-cycle accounting and financial reporting activities.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to research and resolve complex accounting issues.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a high-volume environment.

  • Experience working with accounting software such as Yardi, MRI, or other real estate accounting platforms preferred.

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to build and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships.

  • Demonstrated capability to exercise independent judgment and professional discretion.

Education and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.

  • Knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, reconciliations, and fixed asset accounting.

  • Experience in real estate or property accounting is preferred but not required.
